KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen

Associated with the Réseau Varèse since 2009

The Herrenhausen Arts Festival organised by the City of Hanover has its origin in the Festival Weeks that have been held in the baroque gardens for over 300 years.

The Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen are among the world’s most beautiful landscaped parks, attracting 400,000 visitors every year. The Orangerie, the Gallery and the Great Garden with its original baroque theatre serve as the venue for the Arts Festival. Taking its cue from the famous formal landscape, the Herrenhausen Arts Festival builds on the baroque tradition of garden parties and court festivals to develop a distinctive format that is unique in contemporary German cultural life.

In this spirit, the new Arts Festival will bring together opera, musical theatre, concerts, musical installations, philosophical discourse and art installations and endeavour to link them thematically.

The Arts Festival takes place every year in June.
