Wien Modern

Associated with the Réseau Varèse Since 2002

Founded in 1988 at the initiative of Claudio Abbado, Wien Modern is Austria’s largest festival devoted to contemporary music, dance and other contemporary forms of expression that are closely related to music (literature, video, plastic arts).

Wien Modern is organised by the City of Vienna Cultural Department, in conjunction with the Wiener Konzerthaus and the Musikverein Wien.

It is held every year in November over a period of three or four weeks and in fifteen different locations.
